Many flowers are symbolic and many have their own meanings. Ivy, for example, means marriage. This is why it is often included in bridal bouquets. Traditions too are commonly associated with certain combinations and types of flowers and foliage. For example, the herb, rosemary is taken from a plant in the brides’ mothers’ garden and is put into the bridal bouquet. The rosemary is taken out of the bouquet at the end of the celebration and is planted into the garden of the new couple. Rosemary is then passed on down the female line of the family.
You may decide to choose your flowers in the following ways:-
• Seasonally – using flowers and foliage which reflect the season of the wedding
• Colour – choices and textures can be used to design a ‘theme’
• Fragrance – foliage and flowers can give you a scent to enhance your day
• Sentiment – family traditions can be incorporated into your flowers
• Budget – work to a set budget or not – the choice is yours.
The most important thing to remember is you have what you want. To help you achieve that, Gardenia Florists need to have the following information to make your day go to plan:-

Bridal flowers
Remember to choose flowers which complement the style of your chosen outfit and suits your body shape. Ask us to show you how to hold your flowers and the different ways in which they can be put together. Have a look at our photos.
Groom flowers
Often the buttonholes for the groom are chosen to compliment the bridal bouquet. Please take note that a slim man should not wear a large flower and likewise a large stocky man should not wear a tiny flower. Consider too their attire. A modern suit cannot take the weight of a large buttonhole, whereas formal dress is able to hold a buttonhole in place very securely.
Embellishments
You make like or loathe the idea of diamante sparkles, pearl pins in flowers or modern wire detail. Gardenia florists recognise that each wedding and the requirements for it is unique. You can use none, a few or many embellishments. Other ideas include feathers, bouquet holders and picks. Finally, Gardenia Florists want to share in your day. Please ask our advice, please be honest with your requirements and budgets and please let us help you.
